Milwaukee Bucks superstar forward Giannis Antetokounmpo has become one of the most imposing players in the NBA. Giannis has bulked up considerably since entering the NBA, becoming a paint beast in the process. The Bucks star has even added a capable three-point shot to his game, something people thought he wouldn't be capable of doing. However, there are some out there who don't fully buy into Giannis' game. Consider former NBA star Tracy McGrady one of them. McGrady has a shockingly hot take on Giannis, via Ahn Fire Digital.

“I think he would have struggled because of how closed up the paint was,” he said during a recent appearance on Shaquille O’Neal’s podcast. “… It was tough offensively because the defense was so great.”

“If you can’t shoot, it’s gonna be hard,” McGrady added. “And Giannis’ game is predicated on coming downhill. … It would have been tough for him to be who he is today, back then.”

Wow that is a hot take! Tracy McGrady has a point in that the physicality of the NBA and the level of defense that was played would make things much harder for Bucks star Giannis Antetokounmpo. However, while it would have been tough for Giannis to be who he is today back then, he likely still would have found a way.

There aren't many players in the history of the NBA that can match Giannis' physicality around the rim, so the Bucks star would be well-equipped to handle the punishing defenses of the past. McGrady certainly makes sense with his take.

However, it's hard to imagine the Greek Freak not excelling in any era.
