Chicago Bulls small forward Chandler Hutchison is out for Friday night's home matchup against the Miami heat, head coach Jim Boylen announced, per NBC Sports Chicago's K.C. Johnson on Twitter.

The 23-year-old forward will travel with the Bulls to Charlotte, though, after undergoing a negative MRI this week. Chicago plays the second-youngest team in the league, the Hornets, on Saturday as the second night of a back-to-back.

With Hutchison nursing a shin injury, the Bulls' depth on the wing is limited as 6-foot-8 forward Otto Porter Jr. is sidelined indefinitely with a bruise on his left foot. Hutchison has been averaging 8.3 points, 4.3 rebounds, and 1.1 assists in 20.6 minutes per game in seven games and five starts, shooting 42.9% from the field and 36.4% from behind the 3-point arc.

The second-year forward was selected by the Bulls in the first round of the 2018 NBA Draft out of Boise State. He only appeared in 44 games with Chicago in his rookie season last year, sustaining a bone injury in his right foot last January.

Boylen signaled that Hutchison's injury was serious this week.

“Hutch is out. He has very sore shins, and doesn’t feel comfortable going,” Bulls head coach Jim Boylen said after Wednesday’s shootaround, via Johnson. “He came in yesterday and it flared up for him, and today it was very sore. We held him out of shootaround, he did a couple things and those things bothered him. So, I’m not gonna put anybody in jeopardy of hurting something else because something’s hurt. I’m not doing that.”

The Bulls, at 5-10, are in rough shape with an early bout of injuries plaguing the roster ahead of a back-to-back.
