Chicago Bulls guard Coby White had the best performance of his career on Wednesday dropping a career-high 36 points in a loss to the Sacramento Kings. After scuffling a bit to start his sophomore campaign with the Bulls, White is starting to find a rhythm, going for 20-plus points in three consecutive games.

White credits a shift in mindset as the key to his recent success:

“Just trying to have little techniques around the rim instead of just trying to go straight through the big,” Coby White said, via K.C. Johnson of NBC Sports Chicago. “Just staying locked in and focused on the rim. Put my eyes on it early. I think last year I kinda went in there and I wasn't really focused on the rim. I was more so trying to get a foul call.”

Coby White finished with 36 points on 15-of-23 shooting against the Kings, consistently finishing around the basket in impressive fashion (11-of-12 shooting in the paint). He also posted four triples, three rebounds, seven dimes, and zero turnovers in 40 minutes of play. It's a shame this all came in a losing effort.

Over the first nine games of the 2020-21 campaign, White has put up averages of 18.6 points (on 42.4 percent shooting), 5.1 rebonds, and 5.6 assists while also connecting on 2.8 triples per game on a 37.3 percent clip.

Coby White is emerging as one of the most promising young guards in the NBA today, and the Bulls need him to keep developing at the point guard position in order to return to relevance after years of struggles.
