Chicago Bulls fans continue to be thankful for DeMar DeRozan’s presence everyday. The former Raptors and Spurs swingman is having a renaissance like no other with his new team, barging his way into MVP conversations with insane scoring performances. He’s brought much-needed basketball success to a city starved with wins for the last few years.

Deebo’s epic 2021 – 22 season continued against the defending champions Milwaukee Bucks. DeMar DeRozan earned his 39th 25-point game this season, matching a Bulls mark last set by former MVP Derrick Rose in 2011. He’s been THAT good. (via ESPN Stats & Info)

While there’s certainly a case for DeRozan to win the MVP crown this year, he’s going to be facing tough competition. Joel Embiid, Nikola Jokic, and Giannis Antetokounmpo are having monster years in terms of stats. Not far behind of the Bulls star are Luka Doncic and Ja Morant. Still, it’s possible for him to crack the top three with a few lucky breaks.

Not that it matters to DeRozan, probably. After all, his main priority is getting the Bulls to the Finals again. The Bulls are neck-and-neck with the Miami Heat for the first seed: a crucial advantage in the playoffs. Earning home-court advantage up until at least the Conference Finals is huge for most teams.

Chicago is having their first winning season in a long time, and they’re doing it in spectacular fashion. Having another MVP in the city, another title, all of these are within grasp for the team. All they need is to buckle down and continue the torrid pace they’ve been playing in.
