The Chicago Bulls have signed 6-foot-9 forward JaKarr Sampson to a 10-day contract, as the team looks to add some warm bodies to its lineup following a slew of injuries.

Via the team's official release:

The Bulls have signed forward JaKarr Sampson to a 10-day contract as a Call-Up from Chicago’s G League affiliate the Windy City Bulls, pursuant to the NBA’s hardship roster rules.

Samspon was killing it with the Windy City Bulls in the G League, with the 24-year-old averaging 21.1 points (on 54.0 percent shooting), 9.1 rebounds, 2.0 assists, 0.7 steals, and 1.1 blocks in 24 appearances for the squad. Chicago certainly took notice and have rewarded Sampson with a call-up to the big leagues.

The Bulls are missing essentially their entire starting lineup due to injuries. This has given a ton of opportunity for a number of other players on the roster to showcase their respective skill sets. On Saturday against the Toronto Raptors, 27-year-old guard Walter Lemon Jr. made his debut for Chicago and put on quite a show, accounting for 19 points, four rebounds, six assists, four steals, and a block in 31 minutes off the bench.

Lemon was also recently signed by the Bulls in line with the team's multitude of injuries, so Sampson might actually have the same opportunity for an extremely shorthanded Chicago side. With a little bit of luck, Sampson might just be able to make a little noise in the next week or so. Should this come to fruition, the former St. John's standout may be looking at a rest-of-season deal with the Bulls.

Last season, Sampson made a total of 22 appearances for the Sacramento Kings, putting up 4.7 points, 3.5 rebounds, and a block in 15.6 minutes per game.
