Zach LaVine has been the face of the Chicago Bulls for a while now, piling up monster scoring performances on a near-nightly basis. But to say he's still a ways away from Michael Jordan would be the understatement of the century.

That fact was made abundantly clear with Zach LaVine's latest milestone in his first game back since being placed in COVID-19 health and safety protocols the previous week. LaVine poured in 32 points on Sunday night against the Indiana Pacers – his 65th as a member of the Chicago Bulls.

All he has to do to break Michael Jordan's franchise record with the Bulls is do it 472 more times. The sheer magnitude of the task was not lost on Zach LaVine, who simply had a three-word response to the stat quirk posted by StatMuse.

While there's no replacing Michael Jordan in the hearts of Bulls fans, Zach LaVine and DeMar DeRozan have done their best to endear themselves to the fanbase all the same.

Chicago is 21-10 through 31 games this season, good for second seed in a packed Eastern Conference and in firm position for homecourt advantage in the postseason.

Zach LaVine may be lightyears away from Michael Jordan, both in terms of the 30-point record and in terms of built-in cache with the city of Chicago. But if he can lead the team to their first title in over two decades, he can make up at least some ground on His Airness.
