The Chicago Bulls continue to give their loyal fanbase something to cheer about this season. Zach LaVine and DeMar DeRozan have been arguably the greatest All-Star duo the franchise has seen since a certain tandem graced their ranks a few decades ago.

They're eons away from being Michael Jordan and Scottie Pippen, but on certain nights they seem to channel some of that two-man energy when they're at their best. Monday night was one of those occasions as Zach LaVine and DeMar DeRozan matched a franchise record set by the MJ and Pip from all the way back in 1991.

LaVine tallied 30 points, nine assists, and four rebounds while DeRozan had 35 points, 10 assists, and five rebounds in a resounding double-digit victory over the Atlanta Hawks.

All the way back in the 1990-91 season, Michael Jordan and Scottie Pippen posted even more absurd stat lines. MJ had 37 points, nine assists, and seven rebounds while Pip poured in 35 points, 10 rebounds, and nine assists.

Bulls fans certainly remember how that season ended – with Jordan and Pippen raising their first championship banner after defeating Magic Johnson and the Los Angeles Lakers.

While the Bulls of today are far from the title favorite this season, they certainly have the juice to make a surprise run at the trophy. How sweet would it be for history to repeat itself in Chicago?
