The Chicago Bulls did try and move up in the 2019 NBA Draft, but they never shopped shooting guard Zach LaVine, according to K.C. Johnson of the Chicago Tribune.

The Bulls stayed at No. 7 and selected North Carolina point guard Coby White.

VP John Paxson and GM Gar Forman can make some dumb moves sometimes, but even they aren't foolish enough to trade LaVine, who is one of the best young scorers in the NBA.

This past season, LaVine averaged 23.7 points, 4.7 rebounds and 4.5 assists per game for the Bulls. The high-flyer shot 46.7 percent from the field, 37.4 percent from beyond the arc and 83.2 percent from the free-throw line.

The Bulls' young core is now headlined by LaVine, Lauri Markkanen, Otto Porter Jr., Wendell Carter Jr. and White. Chicago still isn't a playoff team, but they are certainly on the rise.

LaVine signed a four-year, $78 million deal with the Bulls in the summer of 2018. He'll make $19.5 million per season for the next three years.

Chicago gave head coach Jim Boylen a contract extension this offseason. The Bulls went 17-41 under Boylen after he replaced Fred Hoiberg on December 3, 2018.

LaVine and Boylen's relationship got better as the season moved along. It's important for the two to continue to develop chemistry, both on and off the court.
