Sunday Night Baseball did not go exactly as planned for ESPN. The game between the Cardinals and Giants ended up in a St. Louis 15-6 blowout. However, there was excitement despite the lop-sided result. Albert Pujols made his pitching debut which captured the interest of the MLB world. Cardinals' veteran ace Adam Wainwright shared his thoughts on Pujols's outing.

Don't worry @PujolsFive… I gave up a home run in my first ever game too! You'll figure it out and who knows… 17 years from now you and @A_Knizner might break me and yadi's record!

Albert Pujols surrendered 4 runs including two homers in his 1 inning of work. But it was still quite the spectacle to see one of MLB's greatest hitters of all-time make his pitching debut in his early 40's.

As for the record Adam Wainwright is referring to, he and Yadier Molina set the MLB record for most wins between battery mates in league history. The duo passed Warren Spahn and Del Crandall with their 203rd victory working with one another.

Both Wainwright and Molina have spent their careers with the Cardinals. They have earned numerous accolades and won plenty of big games with one another. This record is simply the icing on the cake for their legendary status in St. Louis.

So between record setting achievements, a future Hall of Famer's pitching debut, and a gargantuan victory, it was a great night for the Red Birds.

The Cardinals have endured an up and down season so far in 2022, but perhaps this performance could mark the beginning of a hot streak.
