Larry Fitzgerald has been one of the best wide receivers in football since he joined the NFL in 2004. Things are starting to wind down now though and the Arizona Cardinals probably won't be counting on his services for much longer. That is, unless head coach Kliff Kingsbury has anything to say about it.

According to Josh Alper of ProFootballTalk.com, Arizona Cardinals head coach Kliff Kingsbury is hoping that Larry Fitzgerald can be convinced to not retire.

Fitzgerald has 1,303 receptions for 16,279 yards and 116 touchdowns in his career. Last season, he racked up 69 receptions for 734 yards and six touchdowns. While those aren't exactly the elite numbers he used to put up, they're still extremely serviceable.

It should also be noted that Fitzgerald surpassed 100 receptions and 1,000 receiving yards in 2017, so he's not that far removed from massive seasons.

Most importantly though, the Cardinals now have a shiny new rookie quarterback in Kyler Murray. Murray has some exciting new pieces around him at receiver, but veteran help is always wanted.

Fitzgerald is one of the greatest to ever do it at the wide receiver position. It wouldn't be shocking at all therefore, if you see Murray using him a lot. Fitzgerald has proven to be an extremely reliable target with fantastic hands. The perfect person for a young quarterback to throw to while getting comfortable with the NFL.

Throughout his career, Fitzgerald has been a consummate professional, a great teammate, and superb leader. He's extremely humble and one of the greatest of all-time. With all that in mind, it's no surprise that the Cardinals and Kingsbury are hopeful they can convince him to stick around for a few more years.
