The Arizona Cardinals are signing linebacker Devon Kennard to a three-year deal, according to Adam Schefter of ESPN. Financial terms of the contract have not yet been disclosed.

Kennard spent the last couple of years with the Detroit Lions and is coming off of a 2019 campaign in which he played every game and racked up 58 tackles, seven sacks, a forced fumble, a couple of fumble recoveries and a defensive touchdown.

He was cut by the Lions on Tuesday after the team reached an agreement with fellow linebacker Jamie Collins.

The 28-year-old, who played his collegiate football at the University of Southern California, was originally selected by the New York Giants in the fifth round (174th pick overall) of the 2014 NFL Draft.

Kennard appeared in 12 contests during his rookie season, finishing with 43 tackles, 4.5 sacks and a pair of forced fumbles. Injuries then limited Kennard to just nine games in 2015, and when he was on the field, he totaled 58 tackles, an interception and four passes defended.

The Phoenix native proceeded to play his first full 16-game campaign in 2016, registering 61 tackles, a sack, a forced fumble and a fumble recovery. He spent one more year with the Giants in 2017, recording 41 tackles, four sacks and a fumble recovery through 15 contests.

That ensuing offseason, Kennard inked a three-year deal with the Lions, and during his first season with the club, he had the best year of his career at that time, posting 46 tackles, seven sacks and a fumble recovery in 15 games.

Kennard is just the latest significant offseason addition for the Cardinals, who traded for wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins earlier in the week.
