Johnson tweeted out a photo Monday morning with the caption āIn Gods hands now primed and ready to prove it! #ImBackā Camp starts on Friday for the Cardinals and a media relations player confirmed that Johnson will be with the team.
Johnson is entering his 4th year in the NFL and his last year on his rookie contract. Johnson skipped the June minicamp and twoĀ organized team activity practices in hopes of getting an extension. The two sides haven't been able to come to an agreement yet, but Johnson will still be with the team. Cardinals general manager Steve Keim said back in June that they would like to get a deal done with Johnson.
āI donāt think there is any question David is one of our core players and someone we look forward to having a long-term future with,ā Keim said, via the teamās website . ā[Itās] no different from in the past, when weāve rewarded players like Pat Peterson, Chandler Jones, Larry Fitzgerald, Carson Palmer, just to name a few. Thereās no doubt in my mind moving forward that we will keep a positive outlook and again, look forward to rewarding him just like we have players in the past.ā
Johnson has shown early in his career that he is a superstar in this league. Last year he missed most of the season after fracturing his wrist in Week one. He is fully healthy now and is primed for a big season.
