San Francisco 49ers CEO Jed York has strong praise for Arizona Cardinals quarterback Kyler Murray, comparing him to one of the best quarterbacks in football, Russell Wilson. In a video conference on Monday, York talked about all things 49ers football, and one of the main topics was about how much better the NFC West has gotten.

He also spoke about the talented Cardinals gunslinger.

“The Seahawks, the way the regular-season ended last year. Obviously there’s a huge awesome rivalry between us and those guys up north,” York said about the Cardinals QB and other things, via Josh Alper of Pro Football Talk. “Is there a better division from top to bottom in the NFL? You’ve got a young quarterback [Kyler Murray] who reminds you a lot of Russ [Wilson] and things he can do to make plays from anywhere on the field.

There were some questions when Murray was drafted about how he would adjust to life in the NFL, especially because of his height. The Cardinals QB started all 16 games in 2019, throwing for 3,722 yards, 20 touchdowns, and 12 interceptions. He also had 93 rushing attempts for 544 yards and four touchdowns.

The comparison for Murray to Wilson makes a whole lot of sense. He has a strong arm and can use his legs as a threat to gain a first down or just keep a play alive. If Murray can develop into as good of quarterback as Wilson, the Cardinals are going to be in very good shape for a very long time.

Time will tell if the Cardinals have the next Russell Wilson or not.
