Arizona Cardinals rising star quarterback Kyler Murray limped off the field early in the first quarter against the Los Angeles Rams following a sack by defensive end Morgan Fox.

With their starting QB in the locker room, the Cardinals were forced to turn to backup Chris Streveler on the following possession.

Operating out of the shotgun on a 3rd & 12 play on the team's opening drive, Kyler Murray was driven to the ground by Fox, who was able to get around Mason Cole on the offensive line in man coverage.

Fox, who normally serves further down the depth chart for the Rams, is seeing action on Sunday largely in the absence of Michael Brockers–who is inactive due to possible exposure to COVID-19.

While the extent of the injury was not initially clear, the Cardinals' offense was allowed to return to the field quicker than expected following an interception of LA quarterback John Wolford on the very next play. With Murray being attended to, Arizona inserted Streveler into the lineup, who wasted little time making his mark, completing his first two passes and throwing a touchdown to Jonathan Ward–the first touchdown pass of his career.

Although Murray was able to return to the sideline, the quarterback was listed as “questionable to return,” making the match a battle of backups, with the Rams having entered the day without Jared Goff.

Considering that the Cardinals need a victory to ensure their place in the NFL playoffs, the loss of Murray couldn't have come at a worse time.
