Before being drafted by the Arizona Cardinals, Kyler Murray was actually selected by the Oakland Athletics in the MLB Draft. According to Ian Rapoport, Murray is not allowed to play in the NFL and MLB simultaneously.

When Murray entered his final season at Oklahoma, it was presumed that he would be playing baseball after college. In his final season, Murray threw for 4,361 yards, 42 touchdowns, and seven interceptions. The dynamic quarterback also produced 1,001 rushing yards and 12 touchdowns en route to winning the Heisman Trophy.

Due to his success in his lone season as a starter, many scouts were intrigued by the idea of him playing in the NFL. Once Kyler Murray found out that he could become the No. 1 overall pick in the NFL Draft, he put down the baseball bat for a leather football.

The Cardinals chose the Oklahoma product with the first-overall pick and the rest is history. The rookie signal-caller completed 64.4 percent of his passes for 3,722 yards, 20 touchdowns, and 12 interceptions in 2019. Kyler Murray also gained 544 yards and found the end zone four times on the ground.

Even though he's under contract with the Cardinals, it seems that Murray still shares an interest in baseball. Of course, it is fine if Kyler Murray wants to play a harmless baseball game in his backyard. However, the contract he signed with Arizona actually prevents him from playing in the MLB.

We've seen the likes of Deion Sanders and Bo Jackson both go from the NFL to the MLB. After seeing that, the Cardinals knew they had to prevent a catastrophic situation where Kyler Murray leaves them to play baseball again.
