St. Louis Cardinals first baseman Paul Goldschmidt is enjoying quite the 2022 season. Goldschmidt was named the National League starting first baseman for the upcoming All-Star game, and he is likely the current NL MVP front-runner. But Goldschmidt added another accomplishment to his magical season on Saturday. In the Cardinals' game against the Reds, Paul Goldschmidt smashed the 300th home run of his career.

As seen in the video, he thought the ball was robbed at the fence and almost walked back to the dugout. Fortunately, Goldschmidt stayed in the baseline and kept the home run in-tact.

He became just the 153rd player in MLB history to reach the 300 home run mark. Paul Goldschmidt is quietly making a Hall of Fame case for himself.

The veteran is enjoying a superb 2022 campaign without question. He is slashing .329/.414/.584 with a .998 OPS and 19 home runs. He's also driven in just under 70 runs and has 28 doubles to his credit.

His performance has been key in helping the Cardinals stay in the NL Central division race. They currently trail the Milwaukee Brewers by 2 games as of this article's publication. But that could change depending on the outcome of Saturday's Cardinals-Reds affair.
