With Kyler Murray announcing that he is focusing on football, the rumors have started to fly that the Arizona Cardinals might select him. However, team president Michael Bidwill has put in a vote of confidence for Josh Rosen to be the quarterback of the future.

The Cardinals selected Josh Rosen with the 10th pick in last year's draft, and Bidwill hints that not all rumors that fly are actually true:

“Josh is a smart guy, he’s been around and he’s seen what happens year in and year out,” Bidwill said via the Cardinals' team website. “There’s always a lot of speculation that turns out to not be true. But moving forward, we’re going to continue to build this team and build around the foundation that we have.”

New Cardinals coach Kliff Kingsbury said last year he would take Murray with the No. 1 pick, which is why there is a lot of speculation that the Cardinals could take a quarterback in the first round two years in a row.

Bidwell wouldn't give out any names or positions of who they might select, but he made it clear that they need to get this pick right:

“They’ve got to be an incredible athlete on the field,” Bidwill said. “You want somebody, especially with the number one pick, that you can look at and say, ‘This person is going to be here for 8-to-10 years and be an anchor at their position and be a real leader in our organization.”

Even with Bidwell's comments, don't be surprised if this Murray-to-the-Cardinals story continues to have traction in the media.
