The Arizona Cardinals made the biggest trade of the offseason last month. Not only was it a massive trade, but many believe it was an absolute steal in their favor.

Arizona sent running back David Johnson, a 2020 second-round pick and a 2021 fourth-round pick to the Houston Texans. In return, Houston gave Arizona a 2020 fourth-round pick and wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins.

There's a pretty clear standout in that trade in Hopkins. He is considered by many to be the best wide receiver in the entire NFL. And now he's in Arizona.

What's even crazier, Hopkins isn't even at the end of his deal with the Texans. The wide receiver still has three seasons left on his previous contract. That's even more proof of what a steal this was for Arizona.

That being said, three years already might not be enough for the Cardinals. They want more Hopkins.

According to James Palmer of NFL Network, Hopkins and the Cardinals are working on a new deal. Not just any deal though, one that would make him the highest-paid non-QB in the entire NFL.

It's hard to argue that Hopkins doesn't deserve it. He's a constant mismatch for opposing defenses and makes everyone on his offense better.

Last season, Hopkins racked up 104 receptions for 1,165 yards and seven touchdowns in just 15 games. That's not even close to his best season, either. Just the year prior, Hopkins had 115 receptions for 1,572 yards and 11 touchdowns. He's an elite target for any quarterback.

The situation in Arizona is favorable. They have a young superstar-in-the-making in Kyler Murray at quarterback. He won Rookie of the Year in 2019, but still has a lot of growing to do. Giving him a weapon like Hopkins for the foreseeable future will only accelerate his growth and make him even better than expected.

It's pretty obvious why the Cardinals want to lock up the wide receiver. And it appears they're ready to pay any amount to make sure that happens, including giving Hopkins a record-setting deal.
