The St. Louis Cardinals are tired of being one of the middling teams in the MLB, stuck on the edge of competing for the playoffs and missing out. In order to turn that around, they know they will have to make some moves this offseason. One of those moves should be to bolster their starting rotation.

According to a report from Jon Heyman of the MLB Network, the Cardinals have shown interest in signing free agent starter Dallas Keuchel. The report also mentions that St. Louis has shown interest in fellow free agent Hyun-Jin Ryu.

Keuchel would be a very intriguing pickup for the Cardinals. He missed a good chunk of last season waiting on the right deal after not being offered what he thought he was worth in free agency. When everything was said and done, he played a portion of the season for the Atlanta Braves.

In the 19 games that he played with the Braves, Keuchel compiled an 8-8 record to go along with a 3.75 ERA and 91 strikeouts to 39 walks. There is still a lot to prove for Keuchel, who some fans and media members still think is overrated. Signing with a team like the Cardinals would give him a big stage to prove himself.

At 31 years old, Keuchel would be wise to be looking for a four-year contract. If the Cardinals are willing to offer him that length and good money, it wouldn't be surprising to see the two sides agree to terms.

Expect to hear more about Keuchel in the near future. With Gerrit Cole now being a New York Yankee, teams are going to come calling the second tier of starting pitchers, which is where Keuchel currently sits.
