A few years ago, one of the biggest cheating scandals in the history of American sports rocked the baseball world. The 2017 Houston Astros were caught cheating throughout the season, stealing signs electronically and relaying them in real time to hitters. It has since been a huge talking point in Major League Baseball.

Former big leaguer and member of the 2017 Astros, Carlos Beltran, joined YES Network's Michael Kay for a four-hour interview. Beltran opened up about the truth behind Houston's thought process and what he believes now.

The former Astros outfielder was asked if there was a stain on Houston's 2017 championship. His reply was very straight forward.

“Yes, there is, because you know what we did… we have all taken responsibility and at some point we have all shown remorse about what we did.” A lot of people might vehemently disagree with that statement. Both Aaron Judge and Brian Cashman have both spoken out about this topic recently, with Cashman stating Houston's cheating is the reason New York has not made it back to the World Series.

Beltran also discussed why they began cheating in the first place. “We felt that when teams were coming to our ballpark, we felt that some teams have something going on. So, we felt like had to create our own system… but we didn't really feel like we were crossing the line there… We felt in our hearts that we were being more efficient and smarter than any team out there.”

Beltran was exiled from baseball for two years. Recently, he joined the YES Network to be an analyst. Snippets of the interview with Michael Kay have been released with the full interview to be released on Monday.
