All-Star point guard Kyrie Irving has become one of the league's most popular players over the last few seasons behind his stellar play on the court along with his hilarious series of ‘Uncle Drew' Pepsi commercials.

According to Shadow and Act, the 25-year-old is set to star in a movie based off the beloved commercials that will feature several notable former NBA and WNBA players.

The film Uncle Drew, from Lionsgate's Summitt Entertainment, is based on a series of Pepsi commercials starring NBA player Kyrie Irving.

It also stars Lil Rel Howery, Nick Kroll and Irving, with appearances by professional basketball players Lisa Leslie, Shaquille O’Neal, Chris Webber, Reggie Miller, Nate Robinson.

The film's description: “Dax (Howery) who, after draining his life savings to enter a team in the Rucker Classic street ball tournament, is dealt some unfortunate setbacks, including losing his team to his longtime rival  (Kroll). Dax stumbles upon the man, the myth, the legend Uncle Drew (Irving) and convinces him to return to the court one more time.”

Ash, who currently stars in Starz's Survivor's Remorse, will portray Robinson's niece.

Irving had stated during his introductory press conference with the Boston Celtics on Friday afternoon that he was recently on set for filming. Meanwhile, Celtics general manager Danny Ainge stated that the four-time All-Star would be returning to the production of the movie once he finished up all his introduction work with the team.

The popular Pepsi commercials began back in 2012 that featured Irving in makeup and costume dressed as an old man named Uncle Drew, who joined pickup games at the park where he surprised the other players with his athleticism and skills on the court. This led to a few other commercials made that featured the likes of Kevin Love, Baron Davis, Nate Robinson, and Maya Moore as part of the Uncle Drew series.
