JJ Redick is proving to be one of the best analysts around. His wealth of knowledge of the game after a long career in the NBA is certainly a reason for that, but he did make some controversial comments last month when discussing Chris Paul's legacy. When saying CP3 is one of the best point guards ever, Chris “Mad Dog” Russo responded on First Take with “He is no Bob Cousy”, the Boston Celtics legend.

That's when Redick really snapped, claiming Cousy was being guarded by “plumbers and firemen.” Well, a month later, the Hall of Famer has broken his silence on Redick's remarks.

Via NBA on ESPN:

The former Celtics guard has a valid point. He was playing against players like Wilt Chamberlain and Bill Russell, two of the greatest to ever do it. But, that wasn't it from Cousy.

Via CBS Sports:

“People with less talent will always try to make a name for themselves by criticizing other people, and hopefully getting some attention and perhaps increasing their credibility. When you respond to something like this, you play into their hands. I won't do that, but I will defend the firemen and the plumbers that he referenced,” The Celtics icon said, referencing NBA legends like Bill Russell and Wilt Chamberlain, the latter of whom he called the best small forward in NBA history. “I guess he must have fought fires as well.”

Shots fired. Cousy played a huge part in the Celtics' dominant years, winning six rings. He was also named to the NBA 75th Anniversary Team earlier this year. Oh, and Cousy earned MVP honors in 1957.

Sure, players are certainly more athletic and physically gifted now, but you can't take anything away from what Bob Cousy did during his career. Plus, the NBA is way softer now.
