Following a busy offseason, the Boston Celtics have had a renewed focus on retooling the roster in hopes of competing for a championship while also securing their long-term future.

According to Keith Smith of RealGM, the Celtics took care of another important roster decision on Tuesday by picking up the contract options for the 2018-19 season on second-year forward Jaylen Brown and veteran guard Terry Rozier.

These moves had come to be expected given their role within the Celtics' future plans. Brown has shown much promise in the first seven games of his second season currently averaging 15.4 points and 5.9 rebounds. This includes notching 18 or more points in each of the four times that he scored in double figures.

The 21-year-old has shown continued growth in his offensive ability while also developing the reputation as being one of the most stout defenders in the league. All of this could set the table of exponential growth in his individual game over the next few years.

Rozier has seen his role expand in his third season as he's averaging career highs across the board with 9.4 points, 5.4 rebounds, 2.3 assists, and 1.9 steals in 24.6 minutes per game. This increase in playing time may have been in part to All-Star forward Gordon Hayward being out for the season.

Ultimately, this further solidifies the Celtics' core group of players for the next couple of years.
