Following earlier reports that Boston Celtics guard Marcus Smart tested positive for the coronavirus, Celtics teammate Enes Kanter has now sent out a message of support for his friend.
Citing Smart's toughness and no-nonsense type of attitude, Kanter is extremely confident that his teammate will be able to beat this sooner rather than later:
The Celtics guard is one of a number of players to test positive during this pandemic. The Utah Jazz duo of Rudy Gobert and Donovan Mitchell were the first two players to test positive a couple of weeks ago. Kevin Durant and three other players on the Brooklyn Nets, as well as a couple of Los Angeles Lakers players, have likewise been infected.
Just recently, Minnesota Timberwolves superstar Karl-Anthony Towns announced that his mother was in a medically induced coma after also testing positive for the coronavirus.
All these developments prove that this dreaded disease spares no one. Smart is one of the toughest guys in the NBA today, and even the heart and soul of the Celtics was not immune.
It is indeed a worrying thought, but we can all do our share in helping to prevent the spread of the coronavirus. As Kanter mentions, it's imperative to continue to practice social distancing to combat this outbreak, and the hope is it can be contained sooner rather than later.
Prayers up for Marcus Smart, as well as to everybody else suffering at this time.
