ESPN's Adrian Wojarnowski tweeted out more updates on the Anthony Davis trade saga, and it doesn't look like a trade will be happening soon. Per Wojarnowski, Boston Celtics general manager Danny Ainge is doing all he can to convince the Pelicans to wait to trade AD, so that the Celts can get a shot at him. Ainge has his eye firmly on a future team built around Kyrie Irving and Davis, a tandem that could take the league by storm.
Danny Ainge has encouraged the Pelicans to wait until the offseason to negotiate with the Celtics. Boston remains determined to try and partner Anthony Davis with Kyrie Irving for long-term, but plans to pursue AD regardless of Irving's free agency plans, per sources. https://t.co/Ft8rfe9EBZ

Ainge is up against a familiar Celtics opponent: the Los Angeles Lakers.

Magic Johnson has certainly upped the ante by offering Kyle Kuzma, Lonzo Ball, Brandon Ingram, Rajon Rondo, Michael Beasley, and two first-round picks for Davis. This is a hard offer to say no too if you're the Pels. However, the team knows that the Celtics could offer them a player with arguably a higher ceiling than anyone the Lakers offered in Jayson Tatum.
If the Lakers can't get a trade done before the deadline, the Celtics will certainly take a shot at Davis. Stay tuned for updates.
