Brooklyn Nets star Kyrie Irving is probably one of the least-loved personalities around the NBA. For his part, former Boston Celtics teammate Jayson Tatum has once again come to the defense of his embattled buddy as the Cs star called out Kyrie's naysayers.

In a recent appearance on Kicks' Beyond the Press podcast, Tatum spoke openly about his relationship with his former Celtics teammate, as well as how he believes Irving is one of the most misunderstood individuals in the league:

“Like you said, he’s misunderstood. I’m sure there are probably some things that he has done or said that he has apologized for or regrets,” Tatum said, via USA TODAY Sports.

“But, you know, all of us, everybody has done things that they’re not proud of or said, or said things that they wish they shouldn’t.”

There's no denying that Kyrie Irving has done his bit to earn the reputation he currently has, but as Tatum expressed in his statement, it just feels like all of Kyrie's actions are overly magnified.

Tatum then went on to provide a bit of a preview of how difficult the situation is for Kyrie living under a microscope:

“In the world we live in, everyone’s so quick to judge, which is not fair,” Tatum added. “We just live in a spotlight. I’m sure if all those people who point fingers and talk about all of us on TV had to live in a spotlight, and everything they said or did was national news, they wouldn’t be so perfect neither.”

It is clear that Tatum continues to hold Kyrie in high regard. Despite how negatively Irving has been painted by the media, his former Celtics teammate knows the real deal.
