The Boston Celtics and Golden State Warriors are tied 1-1 in the 2022 NBA Finals. Golden State took Game 2 to close out their homestand after the Celtics snuck away with a road win in Game 1. Now, heading to Boston, the Celtics look to pick up a win at home to take the 2-1 series lead.

For the latter part of his career, fans and the media have questioned whether or not Celtics' star Tatum should be deemed an NBA “superstar.” Ahead of the Game 3 matchup, Jayson Tatum addressed the narrative surrounding his personal game.

“I've seen there's a huge debate: is he a superstar, is he not? I want to know where that came from. Did I tweet that? Did I ever say that I'm a superstar or I'm on the verge? That never came from me, but it's been a big deal this last year and a half to two years. And I see it all the time.”

The Celtics star then went on to say that, while the superstar status is highly subjective, nobody can argue the title of “champion.”

“If you win a championship, they can debate a lot of things, but they can't debate whether or not you're a champion.”

That being said, Tatum and the Celtics are only three wins away from becoming champions. Tatum said that he is “looking forward to bouncing back” with a win in Game 3 after suffering a tough Game 2 loss Sunday night.
