The Boston Celtics have looked like one of the favorites to win the NBA title this season. With the additions of Jrue Holiday and Kristaps Porzingis as well as the improvement of Derrick White the Celtics have surged to the best record in the NBA. During their Thursday night matchup against the Detroit Pistons, Holiday joined an exclusive club including LeBron James an Kobe Bryant when he dished out his first assist as per Celtics play-by-play announcer Sean Grande.

When Jrue Holiday got his first assist in the Celtics game against the Pistons on Thursday, he became the latest NBA player with at least 15,000 career points, 6,000 assists, 1300 steals and an NBA championship. The other players to have reached that milestone were LeBron James, Kobe Bryant, Gary Payton, Scottie Pippen, Isiah Thomas, Magic Johnson, Jason Kidd and Kyle Lowry. Those are all Hall of Fame players.

Holiday is in his first season with the Celtics. He was traded by the Milwaukee Bucks to the Portland Trail Blazers in the Damian Lillard trade. The Blazers then rerouted him to the Celtics. Holiday proved to be the Bucks missing piece during their 2021 championship run.

So far this season, Holiday has averaged 13.1 points per game, 6.7 rebounds and 4.9 assists with splits of 46.6 percent shooting from the field, 41.9 percent shooting from the three point line and 85.7 percent shooting from the free throw line.

The Celtics have surged to a 23-6 record. They've won three games in a row and they have won eight of their last ten games.
