Boston Celtics guard Kemba Walker is the latest star athlete to donate headphones to help students and educators navigate the extended school closure caused by the coronavirus pandemic.

Students and schools around the country have been forced to adopt e-learning measures on the fly, including online music classes.

“It's times like these where we need to come together as a community.” Walker said in an Instagram video. “Mentoring students and helping them believe in themselves and succeed has always been important to me. JBL has been a partner for me throughout my career, and we teamed up to donate headphones to the Boston area children to help them adjust and stay focused in their new educational environments. We will get through this together. Peace.”

Education is clearly an important cause for Walker. During his time in Charlotte as a member of the Bobcats/Hornets, the Bronx-native frequently connected with local students and emphasized the importance of mentorship. Walker was a standout student at Rice High School and continues to give back to his alma mater and preach academics ahead of basketball in his first season with the Celtics.

This past weekend, Cleveland Cavaliers center Andre Drummond, a fellow JBL ambassador, announced that he would be teaming up with the audio company to provide headphones to children in the Detroit and Cleveland areas.

Other JBL ambassadors from whom to expect similar initiatives include the Milwaukee Bucks's Giannis AntetokounmpoNew York Knicks forward Julius RandleMiami Heat center Bam AdebayoChicago Bulls guard Zach LaVine, and New York Yankees slugger Aaron Judge.
