Kyrie Irving hasn't been a Boston Celtic for a long time, but he has already managed to make a rare statistical accomplishment for the team.

With the Celtics guard's 40-point performance in a 103-95 home loss on Sunday against the Orlando Magic, Irving has become only the second player in a Celtics uniform to have 40 points, five assists and five rebounds in a game since Paul Pierce in 2001, per Basketball Reference.

That's impressive, considering that there have been a lot of notable players that donned Celtics threads over the past several years, but no one was able to duplicate Pierce's feat until Irving arrived in Beantown. That Irving was able to do that within only his first 44 games as a Celtic only makes his feat even more remarkable.

But it's also not that unpredictable. Irving has been a well-oiled machine for the Celtics this season. He is averaging 24.5 points, 3.7 rebounds and five assists per game this season. He is currently leading the team to a playoff push that is putting them on the 1st seed in the East with a record of 34-13.

Irving also has a lot of high-scoring games, such as his 36-point game against the San Antonio Spurs last month, a 47-point game explosion versus the Dallas Mavericks last November and the 35-point outing opposite the Atlanta Hawks early this season.

As a high-scoring guard playing on an offense predicated on ball movement, it's easy to see why Irving will always have games like this season.

If the Celtics are to contend for dominance in the East, they will surely need this version of Irving.
