Marcus Smart of the Boston Celtics is considered as one of the pillars of the team. Head coach Brad Stevens looked back on the time when Smart sacrificed his entire body as he went for the loose ball.

As per Tom Westerholm of MassLive, Stevens recalled:

“One of the moments where you have chills when you look back on a season was when he entered the game against Milwaukee and the first thing he did was dive on the floor,” Stevens said.

Below is the clip of the play that Stevens was referring to:

He added that other players boast how much they want to win, how they play every game as if it's their last. For Stevens, Smart does it every day and expressed his desire to have him in Boston for the long term.

“Everybody says they want it, right, and want to do that type of stuff, but he's a guy that does it every day. So we appreciate the way he competes, we love having him around, we're glad he's here for the long term.”

This summer, Smart inked a four-year, $52 million contract with the Celtics. Prior to the signing, several rumors circulated that Smart wasn't in communication with the team. Many were led to believe that the Celtics had no intention of signing him back.

But as it all turned out, Smart was going nowhere. His restricted free agent status simply made it hard for teams to make an offer, knowing that the Celtics would make a stronger counter-offer anyway.
