Marcus Smart made headlines on Thursday night after he led the Boston Celtics to a highly impressive 127-102 blowout win against the Miami Heat to even out the Eastern Conference Finals series at 1-1. The newly-crowned Defensive Player of the Year was not only a menace on the defensive end, but he also showcased his offensive prowess in Game 2.

After the huge victory, Smart was asked to share his thoughts on how he ran the offense for the Celtics as the team's primary point guard. According to the Boston star, he believes he just came out with a statement performance that speaks volumes of his abilities as a facilitator:

“I just waited my turn,” Smart said (h/t NBA on Twitter). “… I think everybody in the organization and the world is seeing what I can do at that point guard position.”

Smart finished the game with 24 points on 8-of-22 shooting, to go along with nine rebounds, 12 assists, three steals, a block, and just one turnover. The Celtics talisman also knocked down five triples as he consistently shut down any comeback attempt by the Heat.

It is worth noting that Smart logged a game-high 40 minutes of action in this one despite the fact that he came into the game nursing a foot injury. The fact that he logged such a high amount of minutes — in a blowout game, no less — only means that his foot should be fine moving forward.
