Boston Celtics president and general manager Danny Ainge has been building a team that can contend for a championship. He has done it through draft picks and blockbuster trades. While the Celtics look like a decent team at face value, an NBA agent believes that Ainge's plan to build a championship team has failed.

Mark Murphy of the Boston Herald spoke with a prominent NBA agent who requested for anonymity for him to be able to speak freely. According to the agent, the Celtics are comprised of players who all want to get a bigger piece of the pie. The agent even believes that the Celtics are better off without Kyrie Irving — the most talented player on the team.

“The crazy thing is that this team actually plays better or more together without Kyrie,” said the agent. “This kind of backfired on Danny. Too many players, too many guys who are trying to emerge all at once.”

The likes of Jaylen Brown and Jayson Tatum are trying to prove that they're All-Star caliber players. On top of this, Irving is trying hard to be the leader of the squad. It's not an easy task to do as he admitted recently. This situation has been more of a bane than a boon for the Celtics.

There's an ongoing rumor that Irving might be done with the team and head someplace else. True or not, only time will tell. But it's certain that Ainge might have to rethink his moves.
