The Boston Celtics-Los Angeles Lakers rivalry is alive and well. To prove it, the daughter of Celtics legend Red Auerbach may have just taken a veiled a jab at the Lakers.

The Celtics unveiled a new practice facility recently. As such, Randy Auerbach, daughter of the great coach Red, said per Fred Katz of MassLive:

“I live in Los Angeles. I don’t think the Lakers have anything like this.”

Fans were quick to remind Auerbach that the Lakers unveiled a new practice facility last year, pointing out that it cost a whole lot more than the Celtics'. Were Auerbach's comments uncalled for and invalid? Perhaps not. Maybe it was just an effort to make the rivalry come alive.

On the new facility, Celtics head coach Brad Stevens believes that it could serve as a good lure to free agents. According to Steve Bulpett of the Boston Herald:

“It’s a huge boost, I think. And it’s about prioritizing your players. It’s about prioritizing their growth, being committed to them in every which way and showing that in as many ways as you can. This clearly shows it. And both from a long-term retention standpoint and when you bring new players in, this checks every box. It’s incredible.

Being able to walk across the hall into an empty space and sit down and have a study room and a film room is huge. To be able to have all the hydrotherapy things right here, for our guys to be able to take advantage of that, is huge, you know, not having to leave our facility to do that.”
