The Boston faithful were ecstatic following the announcement Gordon Hayward made that he has agreed to join the Celtics on a four year, $128 million deal. They are not the only ones excited in seeing him in the Green and White jersey, but also their players, who will be playing alongside the 6-foot-8 small forward starting next season.
Isaiah Thomas, Al Horford, and Marcus Smart all took to their Twitter accounts to welcome Hayward to the team. The two-time All-Star point guard even told ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski that he believes Hayward is the missing piece to their hopes of making it out of the East, and competing for the title in the NBA Finals.

Isaiah Thomas on Gordon Hayward to ESPN: "The type of player we needed to get to the Finals. I'm excited and can't wait to get to work."

Hayward is coming off his best season as a pro where he was named an All-Star for the first time in his career. He also had very impressive averages of 21.9 points, 5.4 rebounds, 3.5 assists, and 1.0 steal per game. His addition to the C’s will give them more depth at the forward position and another scoring weapon, which will lessen the load Thomas needs to carry night in and night out.
After striking out on Paul George and Blake Griffin, the Celtics have now landed the star they have been wanting to add to their roster all these years. If Hayward adjusts quickly to their system and plays like how he did during his days with the Utah Jazz, he could turn out to be the biggest free agent signing this summer.
