The Boston Celtics reportedly made a draft promise to Washington Huskies guard Matisse Thybulle, according to Steve Kyler of Basketball Insiders.

The Celtics have the 14th overall pick in the 2019 NBA Draft, which is on June 20. They also have the 20th and 51st overall picks.

This past season at Washington, Thybulle averaged 9.1 points, 3.1 rebounds and 2.1 assists in 36 games. He shot 41.5 percent from the field, 30.5 percent from beyond the arc and 85.1 percent from the free-throw line.

The Celtics could be in need of guard depth this summer. Both Kyrie Irving (unrestricted) and Terry Rozier (restricted) are set to be free agents. No one expects both guards to be back with Boston next season, especially Rozier, who wants to be a starter in the NBA.

Thybulle had career averages of 9.2 points, 3.1 rebounds and 2.0 assists in his four years at Washington. He's listed at 6-foot-5 and 195 pounds. The most points he scored in college was 26.

The Celtics lost to the Milwaukee Bucks in the second round of the playoffs in five games. Boston was the preseason favorite to reach the NBA Finals out of the Eastern Conference this season, but they underachieved mightily.

The Celtics want to re-sign Irving, but no one knows what he's going to do. Boston is also expected to try and trade for New Orleans Pelicans star big man Anthony Davis.
