While there have been talks about the Boston Celtics possibly breaking up the Jayson Tatum-Jaylen Brown duo, that doesn't seem to be the case now if recent rumors are to be believed.

According to Steve Bulpett of Heavy, the Celtics have been really active in trade talks as the trade deadline nears. Apparently, though, they are looking to “reconfigure” the players around Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown, recognizing that their previous offseason additions just doesn't work for them.

That doesn't mean the Celtics are looking to make a huge splash before the February 10 deadline, though. Brad Stevens and co. are said to be looking at possibly unloading some contracts to make a way for their younger players to get minutes in their veteran-loaded roster.

At this stage, sources are indicating that first-year head of basketball operations Brad Stevens is at the very least looking to unload some salary cap burden (as he did in moving Juancho Hernangomez last week) and clear a path for Payton Pritchard, Aaron Nesmith and Romeo Langford to get more playing time.

It remains to be seen what the Celtics will do. After all, they can still pull off a big trade given the assets they have. With that said, the team is certainly one to watch as they look to be buyers and sellers at the deadline.

The Celtics clearly need to make some changes after a rather disappointing start to the 2021-22 season. They are currently 24-24 on the campaign, which is good for the eighth seed but four games behind the sixth spot–the automatic qualifying spot for the postseason.
