After failing to secure a spot on an NFL roster for the third consecutive year, Trent Richardson has finally found a new home north of the border.

Dane Belleck of The Score reported that the Saskatchewan Roughriders of the Canadian Football League (CFL) officially signed the 27-year-old running back on Tuesday. In August, Richardson turned down the Roughriders' offer of joining the four-time Grey Cup champions in hopes of still finding a job in the NFL. He didn't receive any interest, though, and ultimately decided to take his talents to Canuck Country.

Richardson, the third-overall pick at the 2013 NFL Draft, made a huge splash in his rookie season with the Cleveland Browns, rushing for 950 yards and 11 touchdowns. However, the former All-American out of Alabama never replicated his banner debut in the three seasons that followed. Richardson played just two games in his final season in Cleveland before being traded to the Indianapolis Colts. In his two seasons in Indy, Richardson ran for just 977 yards and six touchdowns.

In 2015, the Oakland Raiders took a shot at the former Crimson Tide standout. However, Richardson failed to make the team's cut during the offseason. The same thing happened to him the following year with the Baltimore Ravens, and he hasn't made an NFL roster since.

Perhaps a chance in scenery and competition will invigorate Richardson's once-promising football career.
