Group C leaders Ajax have already progressed to the Champions League knockout stages, much in part to the sheer brilliance from talisman Sebastien Haller. In his debut season in the competition, the former West Ham man has already broken a UCL record for most goals in his first 5+ games, surpassing Dortmund phenom Erling Haaland. Via Squawka Football:

The Dutch giants beat Besiktas 2-1 on Champions League matchday 5, with none other than Haller netting a brace. Those two goals took his total to nine through five appearances, while also supplying two assists.

Haller scored a ridiculous four times in Ajax's 5-1 thrashing of Sporting Lisbon on matchday 1 and then followed it up with another goal on matchday 2. He's currently tied with Bayern Munich standout Robert Lewandowski in the Champions League Golden Boot race.

Of course, Haaland broke onto the European scene with RB Salzburg a few seasons back, firing home eight goals in six outings with the Austrian outfit. For Haller to shine like this in the continent's premier competition means a lot, especially after struggling to adapt to the English top flight.

Ajax has a very special talent who will undoubtedly be hoping he can help his side make another Cinderella Run in the knockout rounds of the Champions League.
