On Tuesday, Kansas City Chiefs cornerback Bashaud Breeland was arrested on multiple charges, one of which was possession of marijuana. Well, apparently, Breeland was already facing a four-game suspension from the NFL for a separate violation of the league's substance-abuse policy, according to Tom Pelissero of NFL Network.

Breeland is appealing his suspension.

The 28-year-old initially joined the Chiefs on a one-year deal last March and played in every game for the club this past season, registering 48 tackles, a couple of interceptions, a pair of fumble recoveries, eight passes defended and a defensive touchdown. He also played a pivotal role in Kansas City's championship run, logging seven tackles and picking off San Francisco 49ers quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo in the Chiefs' 31-20 Super Bowl victory.

Breeland was so impressive that Kansas City opted to re-sign him on another one-year deal.

The Allendale, S.C. native, who played his collegiate football at Clemson, was originally selected by the Washington Redskins in the fourth round (102nd pick overall) of the 2014 NFL Draft.

He spent his first four seasons with the Redskins and was a consistent producer in the secondary, totaling eight interceptions during his time in the nation's capital.

Breeland then agreed to a three-year deal with the Carolina Panthers in 2018, but the contract was voided after he failed his physical due to a cut on his foot that had become infected.

He proceeded to sign with the Green Bay Packers in late September of that year but ended up appearing in just seven contests.
