The Kansas City Chiefs have found their new defensive coordinator after firing Bob Sutton right after the hard-fought game against New England this past Sunday.

Spagnuolo spent last season away from the game of football and his last NFL job was an interim head coaching job with the New York Giants back in 2017. Spagnuolo is no doubt a great defensive minded coach and he could very well be the missing piece the Chiefs need to capitalize on their outstanding roster.

The Chiefs ultimately decided to let Sutton go after many seasons of having difficulties to adjust and adapt, so hopefully Spagnuolo can coach the defense to the best of his ability to turn things around.

Kansas City led the league in sacks last season with players like Chris Jones and Justin Houston leading the charge, but the pass defense was highly disappointing. The Chiefs often found themselves in offensive shootouts with teams, but to complement their high-powered offense they need a strong coordinator leading the defense.

Spagnuolo has coached secondaries, linebackers, and has had several defensive coordinating jobs, so it's a great hire for the Chiefs going forward.

Kansas City has undoubtedly one of the best, if not the best, offenses. The offense ranked first in several categories, but the same can not be said about the defense in any area aside from sacks.

Spagnuolo will look to turn things around for the Chiefs defense as he joins forces with head coach Andy Reid once again.
