The Kansas City Chiefs have a pivotal matchup with the Dallas Cowboys on the slate for Sunday afternoon. Leading up to kickoff, however, there was some concern as to the availability of a few key players.

Well, the Chiefs were dealt a hand of good luck, it seems. According to Chiefs' insider Matt McMullen, both star running back Clyde Edwards-Helaire and defensive leader Tyrann Mathieu have been activated for the Week 11 showdown.

The Chiefs' list of inactive players includes Shane Buechele, DeAndre Baker, Derrick Gore, Lucas Niang, and Khalen Saunders.

Mathieu was a late addition to the team's injury report, having been added on Sunday morning. Fortunately, the apparent knee injury that was plaguing the 29-year-old won't be enough to keep him off the field. Mathieu has two interceptions this year and has featured in each of the Chiefs' past nine games.

Edwards-Helaire, on the other hand, had been sidelined since he sustained an MCL injury in Week 5 against the Buffalo Bills. On the season, the 22-year-old has 304 rushing yards but has yet to find the end zone via the ground. Fellow running backs Darrell Williams and Derrick Gore picked up the slack while the LSU product was on the shelf, but after more than a month out of commission, it looks like Edwards-Helaire is finally ready to return.

This is a major boost for the Chiefs, whose secondary would have been in peril had Mathieu been ruled out for the game. The extra support against the Dak Prescott-led Cowboys offense will give the team more confidence, while simultaneously eliminating the need for KC to rely too heavily upon Daniel Sorensen, who has struggled this season.
