The Kansas City Chiefs have brought back a familiar face to their coaching staff. It was announced on Friday that Kansas City has hired former Chicago Bears head coach Matt Nagy as their new senior assistant/quarterbacks coach, as noted by ESPN NFL Analyst Adam Schefter.

Nagy previously spent five seasons from 2013 through 2017 with the Chiefs in a number of roles. He was the Chiefs quarterbacks coach the firs three years before being promoted to co-offensive coordinator in 2016. He then took over that role entirely himself in 2017.

He did such a great job running Kansas City's offense that he turned that into a head coaching gig in Chicago. However, the lack of success and inability to develop young quarterbacks like Mitchell Trubisky led to his downfall.

Earlier this month, former Kansas City quarterbacks coach, Mike Kafka, took the offensive coordinator job with the New York Giants. Some coaches struggle as the head man. It remains to be seen how much of Chicago's failures were due to Nagy. But one thing that is known is that he is a very good assistant coach.

While in Kansas City, he was known for his creativity and offensive play-calling. Now Nagy will get to work with arguably the most talented and athletic quarterback to ever play the position.
