In this post, we'll be discussing Chris Jericho's wife Jessica Lockheart as the primary subject. But before we get to her, it's probably best to briefly summarize the pro wrestling star for those unaware of who he is.
It cannot be disputed that Chris Jericho is one of the greatest to ever do it when it comes to professional wrestling. Jericho is well on his way to becoming a lock for everyone's pro wrestling Mount Rushmore. Certainly, he already ranks way up there alongside the likes of “Stone Cold” Steve Austin, John Cena, and AJ Styles. He's amassed a long, long list of championships and accomplishments in his tenure as a professional wrestler, including becoming the very first Undisputed Champion in WWE history. He's won over the crowds of pretty much every promotion he laced up for; he was a WCW favorite, he was one of WWE's most charismatic entertainers for years, he was on fire for New Japan, and he is now currently making the AEW fans pop in pretty much every single appearance. Truly one of the most creative and innovative entertainers the wrestling world has ever seen.
Besides this, he also has his rock band Fozzy, as well as the ever-entertaining Talk is Jericho podcast.
In this piece, we take a look at the woman whose been at the side of The Ayatollah of Rock and Rolla all throughout this years: Chris Jericho's wife, Jessica Lockheart. Here, we talk about how they met, when they got married, and other interesting trivia about Mrs. Chris Jericho.
Here's everything you need to know about Chris Jericho's wife Jessica Lockheart.
Chris Jericho's Wife Jessica Lockheart
Jessica Lockheart was born on August 30, 1974, in the United States. She is a rather private individual, particularly when compared to her husband. Lockheart is a non-showbiz personality and generally keeps herself from the limelight, save for her making appearances in Chris Jericho's social media accounts. She reportedly lives in Odessa, Florida, with Jericho and their children.
Jericho met Jessica when he was still working for World Championship Wrestling in the '90s. There was no specific date stated anywhere, but the two apparently met at an after-party in a Japanese restaurant via fellow WCW alum Disco Inferno (real name: Glenn Gilbertti). Jericho saw Gilbertti speaking to Jessica, during which the two apparently locked eyes. Here's what the former Undisputed Champion had to say about the initial encounter:
“When our eyes locked, I was completely enchanted,” Jericho narrates in his autobiography A Lion's Tale.
This led to Jericho asking his WCW co-star about Jessica. After Gilbertti told Chris that she was a friend of his, Jericho was off to the races.
“When I heard the magic word ‘friend,’ the race was on and I insisted that he introduce us,” continues Jericho. “He did and we didn’t stop talking until the restaurant closed hours later.”
The two exchanged numbers before parting, with Jericho having already received a message from her on his answering machine even before arriving home.
It is curious as to whether or not Jericho knew then that he'd go on to tattoo this new acquaintance's name on his left ring finger.
The two didn't immediately start dating, of course. Jessica went to her father's north Minnesota cabin after the encounter, staying there for three weeks. Jericho, meanwhile, was off doing roadshows for WCW. They used this time to correspond and get to know each other better. By the time that they met each other, Chris and Jessica had already established their romantic relationship.
“The daily conversations helped us build a strong foundation for our relationship,” Jericho writes in his book. “We got to know each other well before anything physical happened. It was the exact opposite of the way most relationships begin and showed us that we had something special.”
The couple tied the knot on July 30, 2000, at the St. Charles Country Club in Chris Jericho's hometown of Winnipeg, Manitoba. The couple actually renewed their vows quite recently, on January 2, 2020.
With Jessica being quite a supportive wife, it is surprising that she actually was not present at one of her husband's career-defining moments. As Jericho recounts in his book The Best in the World: At What I Have No Idea, Jessica was not present at the San Diego Sports Arena for Vengeance (2001) as he was not made aware until the night himself of what was going to happen. Traditionally, the family of wrestlers who are booked to win a championship belt is invited to the event.
Jericho famously went on to defeat “Stone Cold” Steve Austin to become Undisputed Champion.
“I wasn’t told for sure until the day of the show that I was going over…so I didn’t have the chance to fly Jessica or my dad in to witness it,” he writes.
She was no doubt celebrating Jericho's historic moment at home.
The two went on to have three children: son Ash Edward (born 2003) and identical twin daughters Sierra Loretta and Cheyenne Lee (born 2006). The three often appear in Talk is Jericho podcasts.
In an industry wherein short relationships and marriages are prevalent, it's a fresh sight to see such a long-standing couple. Nevertheless, this is all the information we have on Chris Jericho's wife Jessica Lockheart.
