PLAYA VISTA – One week after getting Paul George back from a three-month absence, the LA Clippers could be on the verge of getting Norman Powell back from injury as well against the Suns.

Powell has been upgraded from out to questionable after missing 22 straight games with a medial sesamoid bone fracture in his left foot. He has a legitimate chance to return for the Clippers matchup against the Suns, and will get at least two games in before the play-in tournament next week.

ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski confirmed on Twitter that Powell plans to return against the Suns.

Norman Powell took part in a full-length shooting workout before the Clippers took on the Pelicans Sunday night. It was the first public appearance by Powell not in street clothes, so it was definitely a positive development. Powell showed off the jump-shooting, cutting, and elevation off the left foot.

Norman Powell then participated in his first full practice with the team on Tuesday, which set him up for a return Wednesday. Even though head coach Tyronn Lue said the team wasn't running a lot of five-on-five work, it's still a major step in the right direction for the Clippers.

“He played three games,” Lue said of Powell returning to some experience with the team. “And the great thing about Norm coming over is me and Chauncey [Billups] run pretty much a lot of the same stuff offensively, so coming into it, he pretty much knew what we were doing. And with Roy [Rogers] doing the defense over in Portland, he pretty much knows the same schemes, so that's been easy for him to come over here and kind of pick things up quicker so, we really haven't done a lot of different things since he's been out, so he should be up to speed.”

Powell's return just a week after Paul George's return sets the stage for a potential bug playoff run by the LA Clippers, who certainly face an uphill battle. The play-in tournament is scheduled to take place on Tuesday, with the Clippers likely to take on the Timberwolves.

Robert Covington believes it doesn't matter who is in front of the Clippers. If they get healthy, it's gonna get scary either way.

“He wants to be a part of it so bad,” Covington said of Norman Powell. “He knew that it was gonna take time for him to get back, but now that he’s starting to come back into a groove and get back healthy, it’s exciting to see what he’s gonna be able to do once he comes back and once we get our full team back, it’s gonna be scary. It’s gonna be very scary because you got so much firepower throughout the entire team at any given moment. You never know who’s night it’ll be, you never know how the team’s gonna play or you don't know who’s gonna bring what. Everybody’s roles will change at times so just having that versatility as a unit. That’s the great thing about what they’ve built here in LA, so I commend them for everything and for bringing me a part of it cuz it’s the easiest thing I’ve had to do.”

In three games with LA, Norman Powell averaged 21.0 points, 3.0 rebounds, 4.0 assists on 47.6 percent shooting from the field and 42.9 percent from three.
