Now may be a good time to make a bet that DeAndre Jordan will not be part of the L.A. Clippers beginning next season – or before the 2019-20 campaign. It’s been long rumored that the big man and the Clippers will, at some point, part ways. That did not happen, however, during the last trade deadline, so the soonest such transaction will push through is this summer, especially if Jordan chooses to decline his player option with the Clippers for the 2018-19 season.

According to Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN, Jordan can also exercise his $24.1 million option, and in such case, Jordan and the Clippers will still continue talking about how the two parties’ breakup is going happen, likely via a swap with another team before next year’s trade deadline.

Even if Jordan opts in to the deal, the Clippers and Jordan would work together to find a trade out of Los Angeles, preferably well before the February trade deadline.

What this report primarily says is that DeAndre Jordan is no longer part of the Clippers’ long-term plans. Jordan is the only significant remnant of the Clippers' most recent glory years, as the team had already parted ways the likes of Chris Paul, Blake Griffin, and Jamal Crawford.

After the Clippers traded Austin Rivers on Tuesday to the Washington Wizards for Marcin Gortat, Jordan’s future with L.A. looked bleaker. It will all be a little clearer once the free agency period kicks in.

Last season for the Clippers, Jordan, who will turn 30 this July, averaged 12.0 points, 15.2 rebounds, and almost one block in 77 games.
