Even when L.A. Clippers forward Blake Griffin isn't playing basketball, he is still wildly entertaining.
One of the perks of living and playing in Los Angeles as a professional athlete is the opportunities it affords them to be involved in multiple projects. You see athletes start rapping careers, businesses, secure endorsement deals, and do commercials.
But one of those most fun things players get to do is act in movies. And Griffin has been plenty busy with that.
Griffin has been rumored to be starring in a remake of the sequel to “Space Jam.” Now it appears that Griffin will have a larger role in an upcoming romantic comedy “The Female Brain,” directed by comedian Whitney Cummings.
In the movie, Griffin plays an athlete, although it's unclear if he is playing himself or just a caricature of a garden-variety athlete. He is living with a woman — most likely his girlfriend or wife — and the two navigate their relationship along with other couples featured in the film.
The plot of the movie seems as the title suggests. It's a look into the differences between men and women and how they handle relationship dynamics depending on how each gender thinks.
But Griffin's role in the movie appears to be one of comic relief. He spouts some one-liners that seem very funny in the context of the trailer.
Either way, this seems in line with Griffin's general interest in comedy. He has done some stand-up shows in L.A. in which he discusses being a professional athlete, and they definitely conjure some laughs.
This movie seems like it will be charming, and Griffin, who has also tried stand-up comedy before, will hopefully add to that.
