Army-Navy is one of the oldest and most well-known rivalries in all of college football. This year they are going to be doing something a little out of the norm, though.

According to Army Black Knights' athletics page, the two teams will meet at West Point this season. It is the first time that is happening since World War II.

Army-Navy will be playing for the 121st time. What makes this game so interesting is the fact that it's been 77 years since they last met at West Point. Think about that.

There's a very strong chance that whoever is reading this was not alive the last time these two teams played there.

77 years ago was 1943. It was the last time this meeting was played at one of the two home stadiums of the two teams. In 1942 they met in Annapolis at the home of Navy.

Health and safety were the reasons cited for the game being played at West Point.

“The health and welfare of the Corps of Cadets and Brigade of Midshipmen is the number one priority,” said Lieutenant General Darryl A. Williams, 60th Superintendent of the USMA. “Hosting the Army-Navy Game on West Point will be the safest way for the Cadets and Midshipmen to experience the game.”

Currently, Navy leads the all-time series 61-52. That includes a Midshipmen win in 2019. However, Army had won the previous three games before that.

It's what comes immediately before that three-game Army winning-streak that really put some space between the two though.

From 2002 through 2015 Navy won every game. A 14-game winning-streak. It is the longest of the rivalry and help put Navy in the drivers seat.

With that in mind, and Army's recent three-game winning streak of their own in the rearview mirror, 2020 is definitely an interesting year.

Will Army be able to use that home field advantage to chip into Navy's series lead? The first time it's being played at West Point in 77 years so the atmosphere should certainly be crazy.
