Recently, Colorado football head coach Deion Sanders and his Buffaloes finished up their work for the 2023 college football season. Although the team got off to an epic start to the campaign, winning their first game against TCU on the road and vaulting Sanders back into the national spotlight in the process, Colorado largely failed to live up to the lofty expectations it set up for itself as the season progressed, ultimately finishing at 4-8.

Recently, the team got some good news when it was announced that their star quarterback, Sanders' son Shedeur Sanders, would be returning for the 2024 campaign. However, that isn't going to stop Deion Sanders from scouring the transfer portal to find potential insurance for Shedeur, who dealt with injuries throughout this past season.

“Right now, we’re looking for older quarterbacks, because we plan on winning,” said Sanders, per Amber Harding of Outkick. “So if something were to happen to Shedeur, they could step right in and make it happen. That’s what we’re looking for… We’ve already mapped out what we need in each position way before the season concluded,” Sanders said. “So we already knew and know what we’re looking for. So we’re right on pace to go find what we’re looking for, and we know where it is.”

Shedeur Sanders finished the season as the most sacked quarterback in the Power Five, as the Colorado football offensive line consistently struggled to contain opposing defenses. With that in mind, finding a solid, experienced backup would certainly seem to be a good plan.
