It didn’t take long for Jonathan Taylor to reintroduce himself to the NFL world. The Indianapolis Colts' star running back finally got back to his normal workload this Sunday, getting 21 touches in a heartbreaking 39-38 loss to the Cleveland Browns.

It was Taylor's third game back after holding out for a new contract and the first one he started. After recording 14 combined carries in his first two games, the Colts gave Taylor 18 rushes against the Browns as the former rushing champ gained 75 yards and scored a rushing touchdown. He also had three receptions for 45 yards.

Taylor found himself in a peculiar predicament Monday morning and took to X (formerly Twitter) to tell fans the NFL had some suspicion on their minds toward the 24-year-old.

“Drug tested soon as I get back in the end zone 😂,” Taylor said.

This is hardly the first time the NFL has “randomly” drug-tested a player after an explosive game like that, but it's kind of surprising when it happens to a former All-Pro player, even if he's been off his game a bit lately.

Taylor earned himself a nice payday from the Colts a couple of weeks ago, essentially “winning” his holdout from the team. Now he's tasked with being a leader on and off the field and continuing to build on his 2021 All-Pro season.

It's nice to see Jonathan Taylor play into the humor of the NFL's “random” aspect of drug testing when it is so obviously not random in most cases. The Colts lost the game, but it appears they got their best offensive weapon back.
